Psalm 24:1 reminds us that The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it. (NIV)
There is a freedom that comes from knowing that we belong to God. We are not random accidents but created beings with a purpose. An essential part of that purpose is living a life for God, desiring to glorify Him, walking in relationship with Him. He created us and desires for us to live under His benevolent care.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 proclaims, Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
While the world’s message often encourages us to live a life of independence from God, this only leads to bondage to sin. True freedom flows from the understanding that we belong to God. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to purchase our freedom on the Cross and set us free from sin. Let us dedicate ourselves to living our lives to honor Him.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17)
