|On the first day of creation, the Lord said, “Let there be light!” With Light comes understanding about reality. Most of us have experienced the fear that comes from being in the dark. When the light comes on, we sometimes laugh at what we were once afraid of. Darkness promotes fear but light encourages faith and confidence.
In Psalm 27:1, David proclaims, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” As a result of David’s pursuing intimacy with the Lord, he came to understand that the Lord was his source of light and strength. We live in a world that is darkened by sin and governed by futile thinking (Romans 1:18-32). Jesus came to be the Light of the World (John 8:12) and He calls us to walk in His light and strength.
If you are struggling today, be reminded of David’s words in Psalm 18: “For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. (Psalm 18:28) It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. (Psalm 18:32)
Discover the joy of walking with God lighting the way, and arming you with strength for the day.
