|In John 8:31-32, Jesus spoke to those who believed in Him saying, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The pathway to freedom in Christ flows out of knowing the truth, and we will not recognize truth apart from abiding in God’s Word.
The world does not recognize truth and, in fact, often fights against the truth. Jesus experienced this as He faced the religious leaders of the day. They were bound (held prisoner) to the religious traditions of man. Jesus, during his trial, also faced the question of truth. As Jesus stood before Pilate, Pilate asked Him, “Are you a king then?” Jesus responded, “You rightly say that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” (John 18:37) Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6) and He bears witness to the truth. We must continually place ourselves in position to hear His voice.
May I encourage you this week, to set apart time to hear the Voice of Truth, to abide in His Word, to experience the freedom found only in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Be Blessed and Be Free,
