Graduation! The month of May is a time to celebrate with those who have graduated, whether it be from high school, college, or university. Well done, graduates! Hard work and perseverance have brought you to this time and you deserve to be honored. As followers of Jesus, He desires to bring us to times of graduation as well, where we move from one level of faith to a new and greater level. That is part of the Faith Adventure. It, too, requires hard work and perseverance.

Our final graduation, for those who enrolled in Jesus’s school, will be when we leave this earth to join Him in the place He has prepared for us in eternity. Paul was nearing his final graduation when he penned these words, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

Our focus in the present is on the fighting the good fight, running the race, and keeping the faith. Fight! Run! Keep! These are action words that require faith, boldness, courage and tenacity. We have an adversary, the devil, who is working to thwart God’s purposes. God has called us, as the Church, to advance God’s kingdom. It is not easy, nor is it for the faint-hearted, but it is the most noble of callings to serve our King Jesus. Fight the good fight! Run the race to win! Keep the faith! Go Church!

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jeff
